Alan Sonfist at Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University

The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University will open its new building designed by architect Rafael Viñoly on October 2, 2005, creating a major new center for the arts on campus. The $23 million museum will foster multidisciplinary learning and serve the Raleigh-Durham community. As part of its inauguration, the museum will exhibit a special show The Forest: Politics, Poetics and Practice, reflecting its increased focus on modern and contemporary art. Alan Sonfist will feature prominently in this exhibition as "an artist who proposes real-life answers to problems that threaten forests." He will show his drawing on photograph titled “The Monument to the Lost Falcon of Westphalia.”
